Kenneth Richard Claycomb

Kenneth Richard Claycomb, affectionately known as "Dick," passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, in Westminster, Maryland. Born on August 12, 1938, in Schellsburg, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Ernest Reid Claycomb and the late Margaret Mae Claycomb (nee Hann). Dick lived a life filled with hard work and dedication to his family and community.

Dick proudly served in the United States Army, an experience that shaped his character and instilled in him the values of service and commitment. Beyond his military service, he was a talented mechanic with an exceptional ability to repair and build anything that needed fixing.He also worked for the Maryland State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division as a Truck Safety Inspector. His sharp wit, impeccable timing, and legendary one-liners brought joy and laughter to all those fortunate enough to know him.

As a devoted husband, father, and friend, Dick’s love and pride for his family was boundless. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joann Claycomb, and their children: Jeff Claycomb, alongside his spouse Diana Claycomb, Linn Claycomb, Michele King, with her spouse Jim King, Heather Jackson, with her spouse Noah Jackson, and Russell Brehm, whom he raised like a son. Additionally, he cherished his role as a grandfather to his grandchildren: Brad, Mark, Savanna, Sierra, and Cheyenne.

Dick’s legacy as a devoted family man will forever be cherished by his loved ones. His ability to instill strong values in his children, along with his steadfast guidance, ensured that they grew up better individuals. Even in his final days, when memories began to fade, Dick would often muster up that classic grin, bringing comfort and peace to those around him.

In addition to his family, Dick started the Howard County Antique Farm & Machinery Club and remained active in their activities, a testament to his love for history and community. His contributions to the club and his passion for old machinery were reflections of his engaging personality and craftsmanship.

Dick Claycomb will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but also for the light he brought into the lives of those he loved. His spirit lives on in the hearts of his family and friends, reminding all who knew him of the importance of working hard and family bonds.

Visitation services will be held on April 25, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., located at 1212 W Old Liberty Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784. A breif funeral service will commence at 7:00 PM. A second visitation will take place at Fishertown Community Bible Church, located at 2743 Valley Rd, Schellsburg, PA 15559, on April 26, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, leading into the funeral service scheduled for 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at noon.

As we gather to celebrate Dick, we reflect on the cherished memories and humor he shared with us. It is now his time to rest, and though he is no longer physically with us, his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.
