Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 26, 2024, at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Maple Lake with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Marc Well Nagel will officiate.
Kenneth Steven Day was born on March 7, 1966, to Patricia (Norton) and James Day in Stoughton, Massachusetts. He grew up on Nantucket, MA and graduated from Nantucket High School with the Class of 1984.
Kenny worked as a policeman for a short time before starting his towing career shortly after. He started working for Al Silva's garage in Nantucket, MA, then for Walter Glowacki and Sons also in Nantucket, MA, where he worked as a laborer laying asphalt, moving houses and driving semi-trucks.
With his then girlfriend, Shannon Swayze-Reed, Kenny moved to
Annandale, MN in 1999. On June 10, 2000, they were married at Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Maple Lake. In Minnesota, Kenny drove semi's as an owner operator for Day and Night Trucking, LLC. His last job with Day and Night was as a tanker for Danco Transport of Clearwater, MN. He put in many, many hours.
In his off time, Kenny enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with the grandkids. He was a member of The Maple Lake Lions Club from 2017-2021 and Bethlehem United Church of Christ in Maple Lake since 1999. He also loved to travel.
From his early days in Nantucket, MA to his more recent years in Foley, MN, Kenny's passion for his work as a truck driver was evident to all who knew him. His commitment to providing for his family was unparalleled, and his role as a husband, father, and grandfather brought him immeasurable joy. Kenny found solace in spending time with his loved ones, particularly his wife, his children, and his adored grandchildren.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Shannon Day; son, Michael Day, daughter, Ashley Day (Dominick Grangroth), and step-daughter, Jessica (Alec) Lantto; five grandchildren, Emmet and Zane Gilles, Robyn Grangroth, Matt and Allison Lantto; mother, Patricia Martin of
