Kenneth "Kenny" Devoe Dickerson, age 60, passed away on February 18th,2024. He was born on March 18th, 1963 to Caroline Wright Harvison and the late Devoe Dickerson. As a Lucedale native, Kenny was known by many and did not meet a stranger. He was a proud employee of Georco and Burger King, where his warm smile and positive demeanor brightened customers' days. Kenny loved the holidays and looked forward to putting up Christmas lights, dressing up as Santa, playing Dirty Santa, eating Aunt Mert's Famous Snow cake, and waking up to presents from Santa on Christmas morning. Additionally, he enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and handing out candy to the children of Lucedale. Kenny was an avid watch collector; he was never seen without a watch on his wrist. A good game of dirty Santa would not end unless Kenny was the winner of a brand-new watch. As a champion special Olympics athlete, Kenny competed in running, bocce ball, horseshoes, cornhole, and softball for approximately 30 years. Kenny competed with special Olympics locally at Keesler air force base and at camp Shelby. Kenny enjoyed weekend weekend outings, celebrations, evening coffee socials and vacations with his close friends. Kenny looked forward to his annual vacation at the phoenix on the bay in gulf shores, where he would relax on the lazy river, slide down the water slide, drive go karts, search for shells on the beach, and go crabbing with his group of close friends. Kenny enjoyed celebrating his birthday at hibachi or Mexican where they would sing to him and bring him a special birthday dessert. Kenny loved watching race car driving. Most importantly, Kenny cherished special morning visits with his mother who he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his father, Devoe "Bo" Dickerson; brother, Bobby Joe Dickerson; sister, Tammy Renea Dickerson; paternal grandparents; Eva Weeks and Roy C. Dickerson; maternal grandparents, Louise Hinote and Tom Harvison.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Caroline Wright Harvison; Aunt, Phyllis "Mert" Tolbert; many, many friends in the community.
The Visitation will be Friday, February 23, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Graveside will be Saturday, February 24, 2024 beginning at 10:00 AM at Dickerson-Davis Cemetery with Bro. Stephen Crigler officiating.
