Kenneth Eaves Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clark Legacy Center - Nicholasville on Feb. 6, 2026.
Kenneth Eaves, a 1956 graduate of Lafayette High School and former president of IBEW Local 2220, passed away on January 24th. A master carpenter and tireless woodworker, Kenneth poured his creativity into every piece he crafted. If you're fortunate enough to have one of his creations, then you're fortunate enough to know Kenneth. His imagination never rested, and he was best known for his remarkable canes fashioned to look like hand saws-an unmistakable signature of his talent and humor.

Always preparing for Christmas, Kenneth spent much time in his workshop-his happy place-making gifts for those he loved. He was a sentimental, treasuring objects touched or given by those closest to him. Kenneth had a soft spot for small dogs, a playful spirit, and a knack for storytelling. His tales from his Lafayette High School football days were among his favorites. And yes, he really could stand on his pinky finger.

Kenneth had a generous heart and a deep desire to lift others up. He was known for sending "ice cream money" paired with words of encouragement, small gestures that carried big meaning. His kindness, creativity, and steady support touched many lives.

Kenneth was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jean, and his stepson, Marlon Austin. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Cathy Austin-Frey; his son in law, Jeffrey Frey; his granddaughter, Jessica Frey; his grandson in law, Max Eddy; and his great granddaughter, Margot. He is also survived by three sisters-Janice Sallee, Sudie Darragh, and Barbara Leach-and their families.
