Kenneth Harris Obituary
Kenneth Ray Harris, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, in Wilmington, North Carolina. Born on February 23, 1944, in Farmville, North Carolina, he lived a full and vibrant life of 81 years.
Kenneth proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966 and continued to serve in the Naval Reserve from 1966 to 1968. Following his military service, Kenneth embarked on a distinguished career as a professional metal fabricator and welder. He dedicated many years to Burton Steel Company in Castle Hayne before establishing his own successful business, All American Fabrication and Welding, until his retirement.
A man of varied interests, Kenneth was particularly passionate about playing pinochle and pool. He was well-respected as a mentor and competed in numerous local tournaments. His favorite venue to showcase his skills and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow players was Breaktime Billiards in Wilmington.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Betty and Ray Costello, and his brother, Clifton Harris.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife of 35 years, Patricia Elaine Barr Harris, his stepchildren, Robert Earl McCoy and wife Lesley, and Steven Paul Tomerlin, his children with first wife, Michael and Sherry, and his children with second wife, Tony and Kristie. He will also be remembered fondly by his grandchildren Justin McCoy, Ethan McCoy, and Karson Wainwright, his great-granddaughter, Kenzleigh McCoy, as well as close friends.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial visitation and gathering to celebrate Kenneth's life from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, November 3, 2025, at The Wilmington Funeral Chapel.
