Kenneth Eugene Hubbard, of Brent, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Kenneth was born in McCalla to Houston and Ossie Mae (Caddell) Hubbard on October 22, 1948. He was a graduate of Bibb County High School Class of 1967 and served the country he loved dearly for four years of active duty in the United States Air Force. Three of the years while serving were spent stationed in Denver, Colorado, Clovis, New Mexico, and Tucson, Arizona, and one year in Tuy Hoa and DaNang, South Vietnam as a weapons mechanic during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Kenneth worked for Gulf States Paper Corporation for 6 years, and later, for the Jim Walter Resources Number 4 Coal Mine in Brookwood for 33 years. In his retirement years, he enjoyed spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren's sporting events and activities, doing small time gunsmithing, and volunteering for the Bibb County High School Choctaw's football team. An avid outdoorsman, he relished time spent at the hunting club with friends, deer hunting with his grandsons and son-in-law, fishing, gardening, and tending to his cats, Gurl and Little Bit. He was a member of Brent Baptist Church.
Kenneth is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 56 years, Patricia (Bamberg) Hubbard of Brent; his daughter, Kendel and her husband, Jimmy Johnson of Centreville; grandsons, Harrison and Kolson Johnson of Huntsville; brother, William Hubbard of Helena. He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Patrick Hubbard; his sisters, Ann Hubbard Herring, and Sarah Hubbard Staggs.
Kenneth is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Juanita and her husband, Alan Wilkes, and Barbara and her husband, Travis Cottingham of Brent; as well as his nephews, Keith and Greg Herring, Eddie Staggs, Rob Johnson, Kess Cottingham; nieces, Shari Hubbard Metzger, and Allison Hubbard; and a host of great nephews and nieces.
A visitation for Kenneth will be held on Friday, November 1 at Brent Baptist Church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with a celebration of life/memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM. The Reverends Greg Hyche and Joseph Fowler will officiate.
Kenneth's family would like to thank Dr. Connie Richardson, Dr. Johnstone Hollis, Dr. Dirk Berry, Dr. Waleed Siddiqi, Dr. Jeffrey K. Anderson, Dr. Andrew G. Harrell, all the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at Bibb Medical Center, DCH Regional Medical Center, DaVita Northport Dialysis Center, Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center, Brent Baptist Church family, and lifelong friends for their care and support during this time.
