Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Samuel Jones, his brother Gary Jones, and his son, Jeffery Jones. And left to cherish his memory is his partner, Karen Hobbs, Debra Jones, his best friend, sons Brian Jones, David Jones, Kevin Green, Steven Hobbs, and daughter Kellie Thornton, his grandchildren Lauryn, Lynzee, Jaxon, Alexis, Katee, Rylea, Jaiden, Aubrey, Sofie, and great-grandson Kayden aka Oscar, his sister Sandra, and brothers Samuel, Richard, and Michael and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and beloved friends.
Kenny was born on May 28, 1948 in Roanoke, VA and moved to the Chesapeake area at the age of 15 where he attended Deep Creek High School. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served four years as a Machinist Mate. Upon discharge, he went to work for Western Branch Diesel in Portsmouth, VA and decided to go into business for himself, and opened up J.W. Diesel Service, Inc.
Kenny was the president of J.W. Diesel Service, Inc. and his hobbies included playing the stock market, collecting coins, and racing motorcycles and cars. He was awarded sportsman of the year in 1992 in the late model division of dirt track racing. Kenny built houses and had several rental units, always taking pride in his work. He was a devoted partner, friend, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
The family will receive visitors at Snellings Funeral Home at 1144 George Washington Hwy. N, Chesapeake VA 23323. Visitation is on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 6-8 p.m. and the funeral services are on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 11 a.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com, or by making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Kenny.
He will always be alive in the hearts and souls of all of us who love him.
Kenny always said: "If you don't know how to do something, surround yourself with people who do, and you will learn."
