Kenneth Moore Bass, age 87, passed away on Jul 3, 2025, in Chesapeake Virginia. Born on January 8, 1938 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Kenny was a man of quiet strength and enduring love. Kenny was the oldest of four children, with siblings Valerie (predeceased), Danny (predeceased), and David (wife Mary).
Kenny was a devoted family man and a respected community leader. He joined the Marine Corps after High School, then transitioned to law enforcement. He spent 28 years in the Portsmouth Police Department and 15 years as a bailiff in the Portsmouth Sheriff's Department.
Kenny's loving spirit is carried on by his wife Kathy of 47 years, 5 children Kenny, Tony, Tracy, Tina (predeceased), and Terry (wife Fern), his 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Kenny's legacy is one of integrity, resilience, and love.
The family invites all who knew Kenny to a memorial service at Snellings Funeral Home, 1144 George Washington Hwy Chesapeake, on Saturday July 12, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30, with a sermon beginning promptly at 11:30. A graveside service will immediately follow for those who wish to attend. The graveside service will begin at 1:00 at his final resting place, Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road in Suffolk.
