It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia (Ginny) Mary Tonetti, who departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the age of 78. Ginny was born on February 25, 1947 in Pittsburgh, PA to Joseph E. and Alice Smith. Ginny was a dedicated employee of Chesapeake Public Schools as a school bus driver for 38 years and absolutely loved it. Driving a school bus was more than a job to her; it was her passion. In addition to her day-to-day school bus runs, she frequently drove activity and sport runs to support the students and coaches. She considered everybody her "kids." When not driving the bus, Ginny loved working in her yard, being a true animal enthusiast, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sister, Janet Lenz, husband Charles and their two daughters, her three sons, Mike and wife Dawn, William and wife Natalie, and Joseph and wife Jennifer; daughter-in-law Cindy; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Frederick; her husband, Emil (Tony); son, Robert; and grandsons, Kyle and Joey
The services will be held at Snellings Funeral Home, 1144 George Washington Hwy. Chesapeake, VA 23323 on Thursday, June 5th, 2025. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. followed by a funeral service from 6-6:45 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.snellingsfuneralhome.com
