Kenneth Paul Jordan passed away on November 10, 2024, in Cedar City, Utah. He was 89.
Paul was born on April 29, 1935, to Charles Kenneth and Virginia Jespersen Jordan in Santa Monica, California. He grew up in Santa Monica and Parker, Arizona. He attended the University of Redlands before enrolling at Brigham Young University, where he earned a BA in Youth Leadership.
On March 27, 1958, he married Robynn Diane O'Reilly in Salt Lake City. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1959. They had seven children.
Paul worked several years for the Boy Scouts of America and was the Director of Camp Wolverton in Sequoia National Park, California. In later years, he spent time there as a volunteer campground host.
He and Robynn settled in Orem, Utah, to raise their family. Paul earned a Master's of Library Science at the University of Southern California. In 1964, he began his career at the BYU library and ultimately became an assistant director.
Robynn died in 1986. In 1987, Paul married Karin Klingler. They later divorced. On January 19, 1996, he married Judith Anderson Carr, and in 1999, they retired to New Harmony, Utah. Together they traveled Europe, taught English in China, explored the U.S., and served a mission in the St. George, Utah LDS Church historical sites. Paul served on the Washington County Library Board, with his local fire district, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Zion National Park. He was an avid raiser and racer of homing pigeons, participating in local clubs and mentoring new enthusiasts.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Robynn, three sons: Kenneth Jordan, Shawn Jordan, and Ryan Jordan; and two grandsons, Carson Backus and Alec Jordan. He is survived by his beloved wife Judy, one son, William Christian Jordan, St. George; three daughters: Shannon Backus (Terry), Manti; Heather Hunt (Dave), Pine Valley; and Lara Butler (Christian), Saratoga Springs; daughters-in-law Jenni High, Jade Lee, and Charity Haller; his devoted stepdaughter and two stepsons: Bryan Simpson and John Carr (Sherri); 34 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
For the last 15 years, Paul endured a painful and disabling illness with patience, fortitude, and good cheer.
