Kenneth Klawitter Obituary Kenneth D. Klawitter, "Deacon Ken," 67, of Valparaiso, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Chicago, surrounded by family. He was born on July 9, 1957 to Donald J. (deceased) and Carole M. (Koontz) Klawitter. On April 26, 1986, he married Paulette Giorgio, who preceded him in death. Kenneth worked as an architectural designer and was proud of the countless buildings and construction projects he designed and helped see into fruition. Kenneth lived his life as a man of faith and served St. Paul Catholic Church as a Deacon. He was an avid baseball fan and spent many years playing, coaching, and enjoying the sport. "How many days until Spring Training?" Kenneth valued community engagement and coached the Special Olympics Softball team with his son, Benjamin. Music was an integral part of his life and he was a natural musician often found playing the guitar and piano as well as enjoying live concerts, especially jazz. Kenneth was known for his sense of humor, enjoyed many rounds of golf with family and friends, and was a master at cooking on the grill. He is survived by his children Benjamin Klawitter of Valparaiso and Cayla (Joshua) ODell of Iowa. He is also survived by his mom Carole Klawitter and his sisters Kim Klawitter and Kathleen Klawitter. A visitation for Kenneth will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 beginning with prayer at 3:30 pm followed by visitation from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Saint Paul Catholic Church. A visitation will also be held Thursday, March 20, 2025, from 9:00 am until the time of prayer at 10:00 am followed by the funeral mass at 10:30 am at St. Paul Catholic Church in Valparaiso with Most Rev. Robert J. McClory celebrating and Rev. Douglas Mayer and Rev. Roque Meraz concelebrating. Burial will be at St. Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the family to help with his medical expenses.
