Kenneth “Ken” Kornblum, age 69, passed from this life on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Weatherford, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.
Ken was born on November 16, 1955, in Forest Hills, New York, to Sol and Joan Kornblum. He grew up in Valley Stream, New York, and graduated from Eron Preparatory High School. In 1980, he met the love of his life, LouAnn, and they were married in August of 1982.
Ken had a long and fulfilling career with BMC Software, where he worked from 1996 until his retirement in 2021. Over the course of 25 years, he served as a computer software developer, engineer, and programmer. He was passionate about coding and technology, and his work reflected his intelligence, precision, and dedication.
Beyond his professional life, Ken was a man of many interests. He was a certified "Dive Control Specialist" and enjoyed the adventure and beauty of scuba diving. He loved flying drones and capturing stunning photos and videos from above. Ken was knowledgeable about guns and loved shooting; he was a lifetime member of the Austin Rifle Club, where he served on the membership board.
Ken was known for his quick wit, intelligence, and meticulous attention to detail. He had a natural gift for research, often earning him the nickname “Master of Research.” Kind-hearted and loving, he brought humor and warmth to those around him. Among his immediate family, he was affectionately known as “Kenny.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sol and Joan Kornblum, and his nephew, Joshua Schwartz.
Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, LouAnn Kornblum; daughter, Samantha Sharp and her husband, Dustin; and his cherished grandson, Devon Sharp.
He is also survived by his sister, Shelley Schwartz and husband, Roy; brother, Jeff Kornblum and wife, Dianna; nephew, Josh Kornblum; nephew, David Kornblum and wife, Morgan; niece, Sarah Biskup and husband, Justin; nephew, Jacob Schwartz and wife, Karen; and nephew, Aaron Pressman and wife, Diane.
A memorial service to honor Ken’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086.
