Kenneth Richard Latshaw, age 92 passed away peacefully on Monday December 2, 2024. Surrounded by his four children, holding his hand in the same manner he held theirs through his life. He was born in Detroit, MI on March 5, 1932 to Jacob and Frances Latshaw. At an early age Ken's mother passed suddenly. Being the only boy of five children he began to work with his father to help support the young family. It was while working alongside his father he learned the necessary skills to become an electrician like his father.
In 1952, he was drafted into the Army serving in Korea, rising to the rank of Cpl. Ken was honorably discharged on August 10, 1954. He met his future wife Geneva prior to entering the Army. Over the next two years they would correspond and upon leaving the military they later become married on April 23, 1955. God blessed this union over the next 69 years. Ken continued to work as a master electrician, running his own business for the next 25 years. However, his most important achievement was becoming a father. He always imagined having a family with four children and that is exactly what he got. His first daughter Pam was born in 1957. His twins, Diane and Dennis, were born next in 1959, and his last son Mark in 1966. All his children with their families reside in Michigan. Over the years Ken has watched his family legacy grow to included 11 grand children and 9 great grandchildren. Celebrating many holiday gatherings in his home filled with love, joy and many years of memories. Ken was blessed to be able to watch all his grandchildren grow and was a big part of their lives. He leaves them with loving memories.
Ken was a very successful businessman/entrepreneur. With a lot of hard work, determination and the gift of wisdom he started many businesses in his lifetime. Throughout all his endeavors he always remained faithful to God in the life that he lived. In return, he was blessed beyond imagination. Some say he had the gift of gold with everything that he touched but we know he had the gift of God. Soft spoken and kindhearted he left his mark upon the many people that were fortunate enough to have crossed his path.
Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman. He could hold a fishing rod or sit in a blind for hours and it didn't matter if he caught anything or saw any deer. This reflected his patient nature. He loved traveling the globe with his wife. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Orion for over 25 years. He loved life, his wife and family and many loved ones. He truly had a heart of gold, was kind, even tempered, wise, loyal and helped many people throughout his life. May the work he has done speak for him.
He earned the respect of many. He was a great man, a respected business partner, a friend to many, and a loving father and Papa who will be greatly missed but not forgotten. He has now been reunited with the "best catch of his Life " our mother, his beautiful wife. He is now at peace waiting with outstretched arms for his love ones to join him again one day.
Loving husband of the late Geneva. Dear father of Pam (Mike) Belesky, Diane (Tom Kirkpatrick) Latshaw, Dennis (Michelle) Latshaw, and Mark (Valerie) Latshaw.
