Kenneth Carl Martel

Kenneth Carl Martel of Biloxi, MS peacefully passed away on July 6th, 2024 at the age of 86.
Kenneth served his country with honor in the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his dedication, bravery, and unwavering sense of duty. His service was a source of pride for him and his family. After retiring from active duty, Kenneth continued to serve his country as part of the civil service for the Air Force, demonstrating his enduring commitment to public service.
Kenneth shared a deep and abiding love with his beloved wife of 65 years, Shirley. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect.
Kenneth was also a loving and devoted father to his 3 children, Dean, Hope, & Gene. He cherished his family above all and found great joy in their accomplishments and happiness.
An avid fisherman, Kenneth spent many days on the water, casting lines, taking his shrimp boat out in the 70's and 80's to feed the neighborhood, and sharing stories about his time in Vietnam & Korea. Kenneth also enjoyed tinkering with things in his garage, a hobby that showcased his creativity and ingenuity. He was a proud member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Shriners, VFW, and the Masons, where he formed lasting friendships and contributed to his community.
He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Leon & Dorothy Martel and his son, Gene Martel. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Martel; sister, Carolyn Martel; 2 children, Dean Martel, Hope Martel Andy (Orlando); grandchildren, Allan Martel (Stefanie), Cassie Martel, Darin Martel, Elizabeth Bennett (Kyle), John Preston Andy, Anna Kathryn Andy; great grandchildren, Liam Martel, Allie Martel, & Collins Caldwell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Fraternal Order of the Eagles #4535 or your charity of choice, reflecting Kenneth's generous and giving nature.
Family would like to extend an invite to friends and family for a celebration of life for Kenneth on Saturday 07/13/24 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Southern Mississippi Funeral Services Chapel, 6631 Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS 39564 with service immediately following at 11:00am. Interment will be held at the Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, MS.
