We celebrate the life of Kenneth Ray McCartney, who passed away on July 25, 2025, at the age of 71. Born on March 26, 1954, in Okmulgee, OK to James Hugh McCartney and Mary Jewell Hill McCartney, Ken's life was marked by unwavering faith, love and creativity. A graduate of Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, he furthered his education with a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Houston, establishing a successful career as an architect, retiring from the State of Texas in 2021.Ken married his beautiful bride, Sharon Bell, on December 17, 1988. They created a loving home filled with faith, music and a shared talent for home improvement projects. He was a passionate member of the Church of Christ throughout his life, sharing a profound love for Jesus that touched the hearts of all who knew him. Ken's love for woodworking was evident in the beautiful creations he crafted, and he delighted in playing the mandolin and guitar, bringing joy to family and friends with his gospel and bluegrass tunes.Ken leaves behind his wife, Sharon McCartney; son Timothy McCartney, daughter Rebekah Click, and son-in-law Ethan Click. He is also survived by his brother Roy McCartney, mother-in-law Alice Bell, brother-in-law Steve Bell, sister-in-law Betty Bell, niece Zoe Bell and numerous family and friends. His legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire those who shared in his life.The family will receive friends during a visitation at Sanders Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM on July 29, 2025. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at 82nd and Avenue V Church of Christ at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. He will be laid to rest at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.As we gather to honor Ken, let us share stories, laughter, and memories that reflect the gentle spirit of a man who truly lived for the Lord. His warmth, kindness, and commitment will be deeply missed but forever cherished.Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Jewell McCartney and father-in-law, James Bell.
