Kenneth Monk Obituary
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral home in Odessa, TX with Wade Welch of Gardendale Christian Fellowship Church. Arrangements are by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
Joe was born in Borger, Tx. to Kenneth "Pete" and Angela Monk on June 5, 1942. Joe graduated from Stinnett/Plemons schools. He was first married to Betty Sue Lowry of Amarillo,Tx. and second to Barbara Dillard Spencer of Odessa, Tx.
He worked as a mechanic for Phillips 66 for 30 years. He then moved to Odessa and worked for Brown and Root in Howardsmith, Tx. He was an Alumni member of Hutchinson County Sheriff's Posse and a member of Phillips 66 bowling league for several years. He was a member of Gardendale Christian Fellowship Church. He took pride in being involved with the church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Robert Monk of Boston, MA., Arthur Monk of Spearman, Tx., William "Bill" Monk of San Antonio, and sister Martha Manasco of Stinnett, Tx., and one Niece Rebecca Manasco of Stinnett, Tx.
He is survived by his son, Michael Monk of Odessa, TX and daughter, Mary Monk Ferguson of Amarillo, TX; Siblings, Verna Herndon of Plano, TX, Rosetta Barrera and husband Ernie of Spearman, TX, Paul Monk of Weatherford, TX, Roy Monk and wife Vanessa of Graham, TX; Grandchildren, Kevin Thompson of Odessa, TX, Aaron Gray and wife Natasha of Claude, TX, and Justin Ferguson of Dalhart, TX; Colt Gray of Claude, TX, Niko and Hunter Monk of Amarillo, TX, Collyn Ferguson of Dalhart, TX.
Memorials may be given to Gardendale Christian Fellowship Church.
