Mr. New died on Sunday, August 6, 2023.
Mr. New is preceded in death by his father, Sylvan D. New.
Left to cherish the memory of Mr. New are his wife, Jonalyn New; his mother, Joyce New; his son, Joshua New; his daughter, Charity Phillips (Lee); his grandchildren, Joshua Keegan New, Aurora New, Audrey Helen New, Elora New, Taylor Deck, Madison Deck, and Bella Phillips; his sisters, Marie Rogers (Buddy) and Susan Pridgen; his brothers, Phillip New (Donna) and Mark New; several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends.
Mr. New was an active member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church where he enjoyed being a part of the ministry and sharing Jesus with others. He enjoyed playing the piano at church as well as in his spare time, along with traveling and going on adventures. Mr. New loved canoeing, swimming, and was an amazing organizer. Mr. New's greatest passion was spending time with his family. He was a devoted father, a loving husband, and an adored grandfather. Mr. New was a dedicated educator within Calhoun County for 37 years. He will forever be remembered for his heartfelt personality and being a mentor and friend to so many over the years.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rock of Ages Baptist Church Mission Ministry, 1828 Alexandria Road, Weaver, AL 36277.

It saddens my heart to hear that Mr New had passed away. He was the Principal when our boys went to Ohatchee High School. He earned the respect of students and parents alike. We all loved him. He then became my Transportation Director for a few years that I was driving a School Bus. He was adored and respected by all of us bus drivers as well! Just gonna miss him!
