Gene Nichelson, 84 of rural Wells County, Warren, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Gene was born on October 21, 1940, in Bluffton, Indiana to Claude and Pauline (Daugherty) Nichelson. He graduated from Central High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1959 and worked for Fort Wayne Metals in research until his retirement. Gene enjoyed anything related to horses. He loved to show them, judge them and just spend time around them. He was a certified judge and did that as his part-time job. Gene was an all-around good man, and it wasn't hard to be his friend.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, and son Steven Lynn Nichelson who passed in 1986.
Loving survivors include his children, Tony Gene Nichelson and Mallie Jo (Bob) Sparks, several grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held to lay Gene to rest at Spider Hill Cemetery in Rockcreek Township, Wells County, Indiana.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions in Gene's honor may do so to Riley Children's Hospital.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home in Warren, Indiana.
