Ken, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and longtime Gulf Oil Corporation employee, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 99.
Born in Springfield, Illinois, in April 1926, Kenneth was the son of Irving F. Pearson and Erma (Cable) Pearson. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1944 and soon after entered the U.S. Army, serving his country with distinction from July 1944 through June 1946. As a member of the 3rd Infantry Division, he saw combat during the final stages of World War II in southern Germany.
Following his military service, Ken attended the University of Illinois, graduating in 1950. He then embarked on a fulfilling 35-year career with Gulf Oil Corporation, where he was known for his professionalism, integrity, and dedication.
Ken was an active member of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, where he also sang in the choir. In retirement, he volunteered at the Memorial Assistance Ministries (MAM) Retail Store and enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, reading, and listening to music.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Suzanne Melton Pearson; his parents; and his brothers, Mark and Donald Pearson.
Kenneth is survived by his loving sons and daughters-in-law; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will remember him for his humility, quiet strength, deep kindness, quick wit, and unwavering loyalty.
He leaves behind a legacy of service, hard work, and enduring love for his family and country. He will be deeply missed.
