Kenneth J. Pink Jr., of Rochester NY, passed away on May 2, 2025, at the age of 34 due to complications from leukemia, which he was diagnosed with in November 2024. Kenny, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was loved for his infectious laugh, positive spirit, and genuine kindness. His warmth and generosity touched everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Kenny was born July 10th, 1990 and from the moment he first showed up, the party began. He was loved immediately by all for his fuzzy hedgehog head and his propensity towards fun. He was the heart of every gathering. His friends and family watched with pride as he became a strong, funny, intelligent, and thoughtful man-someone who brought love and light into every space he entered. He cultivated deep relationships with so many friends and was the anchor and catalyst to many of their gatherings. He brought people together and knew how to bring out the best in everyone.
He was especially loved by his big sister, Allie. Three years his senior, the two grew to have a beautifully close relationship. Their love for one another was documented by brother-sister nights since high school that eventually became two families coming together for play dates and dinners, countless car rides to high school blasting music, and supporting each other through life's many stages. Throughout their lives they always remained close, living near one another and even buying houses one street apart. Their relationship was a testament to deep sibling love and friendship.
As Kenny grew and his parents helped him explore his interests, Kenny ended up taking some swim lessons. The rest is history. Kenny excelled in swimming from an early age; he quickly discovered a natural ability to "feel" the water. He joined the Pittsford Varsity Swim Team while still in middle school, leading the team to multiple sectional and state championships. At SUNY Geneseo, his dominance in the pool continued, breaking records and helping his college team achieve new heights. He captained both teams with his unfailing positivity, work ethic, and genuine spirit. After college, he gave back to the sport he loved by coaching, always encouraging others on and off the deck. Swimming helped shape his mindset and values, laying the foundation for the success he found in all areas of life.
Kenny attended SUNY Geneseo-following in the footsteps of his parents and sister-where he studied accounting with a minor in philosophy. While the two of these subjects seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum, if you knew Kenny well enough, this made perfect sense. He went on to earn a Master's in Accounting from Fordham University and later, a second Master's in Public Administration from SUNY Brockport. Kenny chose to pursue a career in accounting, a decision largely inspired by his father Ken Sr. Kenny always looked up to his Dad, just look through some old family photos and you can see it. He often spoke about how he admired his father's business savvy, hard work, and people-first approach. One of those "people" that Ken Sr often put first was Kenny. Ken Sr. never missed a swim meet, no matter how busy he was-a level of support Kenny always aspired to model as both a professional and a father. Kenny joined The Bonadio Group, where he played a key role in building the firm's Outsource Accounting and Finance Department and was recently promoted to Director.
In 2018, life came full circle when Kenny reconnected with his very first girlfriend from seventh grade, Annie. While on a first date, Annie saw Kenny and immediately ditched her date. With that Kenny and Annie embarked on a wonderfully joyful journey together. Their relationship was full of laughter, mindful moments, creative collaborations, unconditional support and bringing out the best in one another. The love that Kenny and Annie had for each other grew daily in all the small moments of life. They were engaged in 2020, married in 2022, welcomed their daughter Louise in 2023, and were eagerly anticipating the arrival of their son, Leonidas, in 2025.
Something that truly brought Kenny the most amount of joy was being a father. If you knew Kenny and have experienced the love he gives to friends and family, it is only a fraction of the love he gave to his daughter Lulu. Such a fierce love for family is a quality Kenny got from his mom. She taught him how to love with his entire being through her own example. The way Anna chose to raise Kenny and Allie had a deep impact on how Kenny loved and cared for his family. Kenny was hands on right from the start with Louise. Always ready to change dirty diapers and help with nighttime feeds. He loved teaching her to play basketball, cheer on the Knicks and the Bills, and singing her lullabies. Kenny was an involved, loving, and playful dad from the very beginning.
In November 2024 shortly after learning he was going to be a father of two, Kenny was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. While this was devastating news; Kenny remained Kenny. Always with a positive outlook, fighting spirit, and full of life. It didn't quite seem fair that someone who already appreciated every moment, who knew to cherish all the little things and always lived life to the fullest would be put in this position. No matter what Kenny was put through, his love for Annie and their children remained his guiding light, even in the most difficult days. He never once gave up hope that he would get better and see his kids grow up. Even in his final weeks Kenny found ways to smile, laugh, cheer others on, see the positive and take care of his family. Family and friends were in awe of for his capacity to love through the very end.
Thirty four years is far too short of a time to have with someone like Kenny whose life was overflowing with love, laughter, and joy. He was pure sunshine, your favorite song blasting on the radio, a warm hug after a long day: Kenny was home. Kenny's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to inspire those who remember him.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Friday, May 9th, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Anthony Funeral Home, 2305 Monroe Avenue, Rochester, NY. His life will be celebrated during a memorial service on Saturday, May 10th, at 10:00 AM at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 962 East Avenue, Rochester, NY, followed by a burial at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY and a reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp, an organization close to the Pink families' hearts: https://www.sunshinecamp.org/support-the-camp/, The Wilmot Cancer Institute, where Kenny received his care; https://www.urmc.rochester.edu/cancer-institute/giving or Northland Workforce Training Center, one of Kenny's clients of which he was very passionate about. https://northlandwtc.org/donate
