Mr. Kenneth Wayne Pruitt, age 55, husband of Melanie Lindsey Pruitt, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, May 27, 2024.
Mr. Pruitt was born September 15, 1968, in Spartanburg, SC, a son of the late Carl Pruitt Jr., and Doris Annette Ivie Pruitt.
Ken was a member of Arrowwood Baptist Church. He loved God, his wife of thirty years, and his two children, Harrison, and Jennings. He admired his older brother, Byron, and often said he raised him after their father passed away when Ken was a young boy. He was a very devoted husband and father and was very proud of his daughter, who is a nurse and attending the University of South Carolina to obtain her Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Degree, and his son, who is attending Sherman College of Chiropractic. Ken had worked with Fairway Outdoor Advertising and had previously served as a police officer with Spartanburg City Police Department for five years. He was a decorated officer and was named "Rookie of the Year" his first year on the force. He spent much of the time with the force as a bicycle patrolman. Ken had many hobbies such as hiking, golfing, playing tennis, target shooting, working in the garden, and on cars, drawing, sketching, photography, and was an avid reader. He enjoyed spending time with his family at the beach and mountains and walking the various trails in Spartanburg. He was known as "GrandKen" to dogs Rosie and Lincoln, and cats, Carlisle, Elon Musk, and Felicia. He was also known for his keen sense of humor and for his inappropriate jokes, especially at the dinner table. His son said of his father, "he was the smartest man I know."
Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife, who was his childhood sweetheart, are daughter, Harrison Grace Pruitt; son, Jennings Coleman Pruitt; and brother, Byron Curtis Pruitt.
In addition to his father and his mother, whom he loved dearly, he was predeceased by his grandparents, Maggie Driggers and Maron L. Ivie, Carl Pruitt, Sr., and Eula Dean Pruitt; and sister-in-law, Jane "Janie" Pruitt.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Arrowwood Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Chris Gray. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Hillers, Jarrid Lemieux, Gary Pruitt, Ronnie Gilbert, Ashby Ware, Lee Raines, and Donald Hollifield.
The family will receive friends at Arrowood Baptist Church from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM Thursday prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society 150 Dexter Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29303, or to the Arrowwood Baptist Church Men's Group 1410 SC-11, Chesnee, SC 29323.

Kenny was my best friend in high school. Even though he was 2 years younger than me, he always seemed so much wiser than everyone else. He had a quiet strength to his character that was easy to be drawn to. I have thought about him so may times over the years that I moved away. I am very sorry that I was not able to reconnect with him. Reading his obituary, he seems to have had a great life. He deserved it.

I met Kenny back in college. We had a math class together. Then he married one of my friends Melanie that I grew up with through school and college. His daughter Harrison and I worked together at the hospital.
