Kenneth Pugh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery on Jul. 29, 2024.
Kenneth Fred Pugh, 87, passed away on July 28, 2024. He was born on October 9, 1936, to Hugh Pugh and Frankie Myrtle (Stinnitt) Pugh in Grand Rivers, Kentucky.
Ken graduated from Central High School and was a part of the reunion committee following graduation. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge on January 7, 1963. One of his proudest moments was attending the honor flight in April of 2022. He built a successful career with Sears, eventually managing the North Park store and later working at JCPenney. He also worked in real estate and appraisal for many years.
Ken was an avid golfer and bowler, dedicating much of his time to these passions. He bowled twice a week at Franklin Lanes and golfed every day he could. He was a proud member of the Howell Park Men's Club, Central Men's Club, Riverbend Club, and former member Optmist Club.
Ken was also a dedicated member of Forrest Hills Baptist Church.
He cherished his family and loved spending time with his loved ones. Ken will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of hard work, dedication, and love for his family and hobbies will be remembered fondly.
Ken is survived by his two daughters Cathy Thompson and Sherri Kerner; grandchildren Nathaniel White, Blaine Kerner (Linda), Adrienne Owen (Dylan), and beloved grand-dog Finley Lisa Gurgol (Scott), Julia Colter (Sam); great-grandchild Rowan Gurgol and great-granddaughter on the way in December; sister Joyce Hinton and brother Cecil Pugh (Kathy); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Frankie Pugh; his son Kenneth Pugh Jr.; wife Karen Teaters-Pugh; brother Donald Pugh and his wife Judy Pugh and brother Fieldon Pugh and his wife Elizabeth "Libby" Pugh; son-in-law Michael Thompson; and brother-in-law Robert Hinton.
A heartfelt thank you to his caregiver, Kelli Winstead, for the exceptional loving care she provided for Ken.
Visitation will be from 3-6pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. The service will be held on August 1, 2024 at 11am at Sunset Funeral Home with a burial to directly follow at Sunset Memorial Park with military rites at graveside.

I met Ken through my daughter Kelli. He was a gentle soul who loved his Westerns. I know my daughter loved your dad and will miss him. My thoughts are with your family
