Kenneth C. Ray Sr., of Plaistow, NH, age 88, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 18, 2024, at Lawrence General Hospital. He was the devoted husband of 37 years, to his wife Marlene F. (Marchand) Ray.
Born in Haverhill, MA on June 8, 1936, he was the son of James C. Ray Jr. and Irene Ray of Haverhill, MA.
Kenneth was a 6-year Veteran in the United States Marine Corps, between 1957 - 1963.
He was a long-time resident of Plaistow, NH and worked for the town as the Electrical inspector and in his spare time he did electrical work for businesses and home owners. Before working for the town of Plaistow, Ken worked as a Master Electrician for Western Electric/Lucent Technologies, a Telecommunications Company.
For many years, Ken devoted much of his time to his community as the President of the board for Post Mills condominium. It was not unusual to see him out maintaining the grounds and doing odd jobs.
He loved summer cook outs where he would host horseshoe competitions with family and friends, wood working, meeting up with friends for coffee, Baseball games with his sons and grandson, trips to Foxwood, eating out and reminiscing about his days cross country skiing with his sons and he was a member of the Bradford Athletic Club.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Marlene F. Ray; three sons, Kenneth C. Ray Jr., Dean W. Ray Sr., Mathew E. Ray; a daughter, Rebecca A. Ray; three grandchildren, Mathew K. Ray, Dean W. Ray Jr., and Sydney Ray; his only great- grandson, Luca M. Ray , along with extended family and many dear friends.
A graveside service will be on April 4th 2025. at 11:00 at the St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill, MA, where he will be laid to eternal rest. Arrangements were made by Paul C. Rogers Family Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill, MA 01830.
