Roberts, Kenneth C., Ph.D.

I am writing this obituary as I would like to say good by in my own words. I would prefer to write about 264 pages but there are always imposed limitations.

I died on February 11 2023. I spent my youth in Wyoming and moved to Arizona to attend college. I was a resident of Arizona since 1963. I loved Arizona and lived in Tempe, Mesa, and Scottsdale I completed my B.S. at ASU, my M.S. at San Francisco State University, and my Ph.D. degree at ASU. I was a graduate of the Valley Leadership program. I worked for the Maricopa Community College District for 37 years and served at the District Office, Rio Salado College, Paradise Valley Community College, and at South Mountain Community College. I had the great opportunity to start new programs and do things for the first time. I served as an Instructional Designer, an Associate Dean of Instruction, a Dean of Instruction, and a Vice President of Academic Affairs. I retired as Vice President of Academic Affairs Emeritus from South Mountain Community College. My involvement with the Charter School Arizona Agribusiness & Equine CenterI was my passion. I valued and celebrated my career and had the opportunity to share much of my life with creative and innovative staff and faculty colleagues. They were also my family.

I love my wife, Carol, my daughter, Rochelle, and my three granddaughters. We all loved and respected one another deeply. We had great adventures together. Carol, and my family were the most important part of my life. All other events, activities, and things were secondary. Carol and family were the core of my life. Carol made everything possible.

I enjoyed traveling. Carol and I traveled extensively in the United States and made a number of international trips with daughter Rochelle and son in law Neil and granddaughters Meloney, Kaitlynn and Kari.

I am survived by my wife Carol, daughter Rochelle, son in law Neil, and granddaughters Meloney (Dane),Great-Grandchildren (Rowan and Olive) Kaitlynn (Steve), and Kari. I had five brothers, Judd,(Lynda), Jon, (Paula), Steve, (Debi), Peter, and Robin.

I lived a life of adventure and discovery. I enjoyed my life hours fully and had no regrets. I had a great time being alive. My life was an adventure without bounds, a party with an open door, a library with an unending supply of information, and a life full of kisses and hugs that will last forever.

The cause of my death was a full life time of adventure, living, laughing too hard with no regrets and an extended warranty that expired. I now return to the star dust that provided the stuff of my existence. I am still laughing!

As I extend condolences to Ken's family I can't help but recall the kind, caring and intelligent person he was. Just being in the company of Ken was a positive experience. His friendship and mentorship were blessings in my life. And, I know many others who hold those same feelings. In some Native American cultures when a respected member of the tribe passes the members repeat these simple and eloquent words: "Good Man Gone." Ken Roberts was exactly that in every way. RIP in that "heavenly dust" Ken knowing that you made the world a better place.
