With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Kenneth Irving Ross, age 78, who departed this life on August 3, 2025, in Marietta, Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 7, 1947, raised on the Southside of Chicago, Illinois, Kenneth was the sixth of eight children born to the late Nelson and Grace Ross.
Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era, stationed in San Diego, California, where he was honorably discharged. Following his military service, he launched a distinguished 32-year career in the telecommunications industry. Throughout his professional journey, he retired as a Systems Analyst after working for prominent companies such as Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies, where his expertise and dedication earned him the respect of colleagues.
Beyond his successful corporate career, Kenneth answered a higher calling and served as a Baptist Minister for 25 years, touching countless lives through his spiritual guidance and compassionate leadership. His commitment to serving others extended beyond the pulpit where he served as an Auxiliary Chaplin for the Cook County Jail in Chicago.
Kenneth was a devoted member of the Masonic fraternity, having achieved the distinguished rank of 32nd degree Free Mason, reflecting his commitment to brotherhood, charity, and moral excellence.
He was the beloved husband of Sharon Ross, with whom he shared a beautiful partnership filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect. Together, they raised four sons: Shannon, Trenton, Kristopher, and Nickolas, who were the pride and joy of his life. His legacy continues through his eight cherished grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to his golden years.
Kenneth had a deep appreciation for music, particularly Gospel and R&B, which often filled his home with joy and inspiration. As a lifelong Chicago native, he remained a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears, cheering on his team through victories and defeats alike. His curious mind and love of learning were evident in his passion for reading history and religious texts. When he wanted to unwind, he could often be found enjoying his favorite Western and Science Fiction movies, genres that captured his imagination and sense of adventure.
Known for his wisdom, "tell it to you straight" approach, and unwavering faith, Kenneth was a pillar of strength for his family and community. His life exemplified service to God, country, and family.
