Funeral Mass for Kenneth Schettler, 85, of Sterling Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 13th, 2025, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sterling, with Father Mike Wheelahan officiating. Burial will follow at the Sterling Cemetery under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home. Visitation hours will be Tuesday, November 11th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Wednesday November 12th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Family visitation will be also on Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a wake service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home.
Mr. Schettler passed away Wednesday, November 5th, 2025 in his home surrounded by family. Kenneth was born December 16th, 1939 in Sterling, Oklahoma to Edward and Inez (Winkler) Schettler. He graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in 1957. Kenneth married Billie Jean (Carlson) Schettler on April 15th, 1961 in Sterling. They shared a loving marriage of 64 years.
Kenneth began his professional career as a Brick Mason, before entering the Air Force on September 27th, 1961. He spent four years as an aircraft radio repairman and was honorably discharged in 1965. After he moved back home he returned to brick masonry for a short time, until he began working for National Cash Register (NCR) where he worked for 31 years before medically retiring in March of 1997. During this time he also owned and operated the Sterling Grocery Store from 1983 to 1989.
In his younger years he loved to cruise Main Street Sterling in his Pontiacs and doing tailspins at tailspin corner. He also enjoyed all types of auto racing. He took his family on many vacations and after retirement he loved to go camping with his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Billie Jean (Carlson) Schettler; his son Darrin Schettler and wife Sandy, daughter Crystal Seymour, son Brian Schettler and wife Angela; grandchildren Reuben Seymour and wife Alyssa, Jessica Arriaga and husband Anthony, Rachael Harwell and husband Drew, Jesse Schettler and wife Liz, Kaylee Schettler, Dalton Rogers, Sarah McMacken and husband Michael, Dakota Schettler, Katie Dobson, Callie Perez and husband Santiago, Rylee Schettler, and Nathan Schettler; great-grandchildren Cruz Harwell, Avian Swann, Olivia Schettler, Weston King, Mason McMacken, Ayson Arriaga, Tres Arriaga, Banks Schettler, William Dobson, Mateo Perez and Harlan Schettler; brothers and sisters Dorothy Burrell, Edwin Schettler and wife Judy, Barbara Hawk, Leon Schettler and wife Beverly, Billy Don Schettler and wife Barbara, Elizabeth Sanders, Judy Lee Cole, Darryl and wife Martha and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Kenny Schettler; twin daughters Connie and Bonnie Schettler; grandson Garrin Schettler; great-grandson Karson King; sister Clarice Ann Telford; and brothers-in-law Tommy Burrell, Doug Telford, Vernon Hawk, and Craig Sanders.
