Kenneth “Ken” Wayne Scott, age 72 of Lansing, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025 with family by his side.
Ken was born on December 1, 1952 in Battle Creek, Michigan, to the late Phyllis and Oliver Scott. His family settled down in Niles, Michigan, where he graduated high school and met his wife Della. Ken and Della married in 1995 and later moved with their children to Owosso, MI, where they resided for 20 years. As “empty nesters,” Ken and Della decided to make a change and move to Lansing, MI; a city Ken grew to love and explore.
Ken spent many of his working years in an industry that brought him abundant joy: newspaper and radio. He worked primarily in sales which was very fitting for his outgoing and charming personality. Those who knew Ken knew they could always rely on him for a smile, joke, and plenty of laughter.
Outside of work, Ken took great pride in his family. When he wasn’t discussing sales, you could find Ken beaming with pride when speaking of his family. His admiration and love for his children and grandchildren was palpable.
Aside from his love for his family, Ken also carried plentiful love for dogs. He was known throughout his years to bring home stray dogs who later turned into family. He also enjoyed fostering dogs from the local humane society. What his family began to find is that fostering was really code for adopting another dog, as Ken just “couldn’t take them back to the shelter. They’re part of the crew now.” Ken would spend many hours outside with his crew each day as he tended to his yard, another meaningful hobby for Ken. He took great pride in creating and maintaining his “oasis”.
Ken is survived by his wife of 30 years, Della Scott; children Josh (Ashley) Scott, Brooke (Eric) Wehner, Dylan (Kayla) Scott; twin sister Kathy (Ken) Lull; and two beautiful granddaughters whom he admired and loved so dearly. Ken is predeceased by both of his parents and his daughter Ashley Thiel.
The family will be having a private gathering in remembrance of Ken. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ken’s honor to Capital Area Humane Society at the following link: https://www.cahs-lansing.org/
