Kenneth J. Shevlin, Sr. – Derry, NH

Ken was born on June 21, 1949 and grew up in Lawrence, MA where he met Laura Custeau and then moved to Salem, NH at age 9. They were high school sweethearts, married in June 1969, and started a family. They moved to Derry, NH and raised their sons, James and Kenneth Jr. Ken always put his wife and sons before himself. He spent countless hours instilling strong family values into his boys and teaching them how to grow into good men. He also taught them many life skills and how to fix pretty much anything. He also enjoyed spending time with his brother, grandchildren, friends and many nieces and nephews.

Ken was known for his kind heart and always willing to lend a helping hand. He also loved joking with family and friends. He was someone you can always count on. He enjoyed family vacations, and spending quiet times with his wife. He especially enjoyed traveling cross country by train and seasonal camping with his wife. He was the sole caregiver for several years to the love of his life Laura when she had Alzheimer's.

Ken retired as a Quality Control Inspector from BAE Systems in Nashua, NH after 35 years. He enjoyed finding the difficult issues and was very proud of the work that he did there.

He is survived by his son James and his wife Judith of Laconia, NH, their sons Joshua and his partner Gabby Champagne of Manchester, NH and Jayson of Charlotte, NC. His son Kenneth Jr, and his wife Jaime, and their sons, Kayden, Kamden and Keegan of Auburn, NH. His brother John and his wife Margarita of Ware, MA. His sister-in-law Delia Custeau of Lawerence, MA and brother-in-laws Albert Custeau and his wife Sandra of Manchester, NH and Raymond Custeau of Manchester, NH. His best friend for the past 70 years, Louie Jones and his wife Kathy of Hampstead, NH and his good friend Bill Cates Sr of New Ipswich, NH. As well as many beloved nieces, nephews.

Ken was predeceased by his wife Laura Shevlin, parents James and Victoria Shevlin, sister Ida Vaznarian, mother-in-law Claire Custeau, father-in-law Noel Custeau, brother-in-law Phillip Custeau, sister-in-laws Linda Cahalane and Suzanne Dalton, nephews Sean Cahalane and Keith Custeau and niece Theresa Custeau.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Goundrey Dewhirst Funeral and Cremation Service, 42 Main Street, Salem NH.
