Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Smith

Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Smith, age 73, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 14, 2024

He was born in Hot Springs on March 7, 1951, the son of Boyd Ray Smith and Zettie Spears Smith. He was the baby of the family and the only one that was born in a hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda Kay Smith; his daughter, Karen Brown; his siblings, RJ Smith, Frances Evans, Jerry Don Smith, and three infant siblings.

Kenny married the love of his life, Linda Kay Nusbaum on March 8, 1973. They spent many loving years together until she passed away on December 31, 2021. After losing the love of his life to cancer, Kenny was never the same. Now he is reunited with her in heaven, he is walking again, smiling again, and no longer in pain. Although he is no longer with his loved ones on earth, he will remain in their hearts and memories forever.

Kenny was always known for being a prankster and for telling jokes. He worked most of his life as a millwright at Barksdale Lumber in Amity and Curt Bean Lumber Company in Glenwood. Before he became disabled and in a wheelchair, he loved to ride 4-wheelers with groups of friends. He always had a love for listening to country music. He had a collection of over 1000 8-track tapes that he listened to until he learned how to use a computer and find  his music online. Conway Twitty was one of his favorites and he often answered his phone by saying, "Hello Darlin." He was a Master Mason of Sulfur Springs Masonic Lodge no. 100.

He is survived by his son, Robert Wayne Smith of Malvern; his daughter, Tammy Coleman and husband, Ed, of DeQueen; his four grandchildren, Lori Brown, Ashley Coleman, Taylor Clinton, and Clayton Smith; his three great-grandchildren, Tinsleigh, Holden, and Blakelynn; his sister, Betty Lou Epperson of Daisy; his three brothers-in-law, Loyd Nusbaum, Henry Nusbaum, and Lilburn Nusbaum all of Magnet Cove; his two sisters-in-law, Luella Stacks of Bryant and Lizzy White of Monticello; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. 

Pallbearers will be Ray Buck, Gary Buck, Ronnie Epperson, Ricky Johnson, Jacob Taylor, and Blake Taylor.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Coker Cemetery with Bro. Boots Donaldson officiating. The Masonic Lodge will be conducting services at the service.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel- Glenwood.
