Kenneth Ray Sullivan was born on December 5, 1950, to George Claman Sullivan and Grace Marie (McBride) Sullivan. He was called to his heavenly home on October 9, 2024, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, at the age of 73.
Kenneth was a graduate of the Oklahoma City Capitol Hill High School in 1969. He attended the Bacone College in Muskogee and USAO in Chickasha. By trade he was very handy, he spent ten years as a professional roofer and over thirty years as a flooring contractor.
Kenneth married the love of his life Brenda Kay Paddlety on November 13, 1971, at the Red Stone Baptist Church. To this union was born six children; David, Benjamin, Shanney, Kinni, Joshua, and Jered. Kenneth was a loving husband and caring father. His family was his greatest treasure and he lived for every moment that he could spend with them. He and his bride were set to celebrate fifty-three years together next month. Kenneth lived a godly life before his family and set an example that will live on in each of them.
Kenneth's true heart beat was ministering the gospel of Jesus. In 1983, he became Pastor of Red Stone Baptist Church and has faithfully and passionately led that congregation for over forty years where he was given the Kiowa name Tsoe-goodle-tday (Redstone Man) by the late Fred Tsoodle. Rain or shine Kenneth was constantly looking to do the work of the Lord; there was truly no one more driven than he was. He was a gifted speaker and always had a message for anyone he came in contact with. There was nothing that could separate Kenneth from the love he had for his Savior. He loved his congregation dearly and treated them as if they were family.
Kenneth had five passions in life; family, ministry, construction, old westerns and basketball. He was an avid fan of all OU sports and Thunder basketball. He lived for watching his children and grandchildren play sports though the years; he was their biggest fan. Kenneth loved to collect knives of any kind and give them as gifts at Christmas. He liked to build all kinds of things through the years. He had taken up the craft of leatherwork and loved to bring life back into old furniture. Kenneth had the mind of an artist; he was detail oriented and seen things from a perspective of depth and sharpness that made him stand out. He loved to draw building plans and always knew what needed to be done for the work to be perfect. He found humor in life and loved to joke and tease with everyone. Kenneth worked all the way till the very end. A true testament of the devoted man he was.
Left to cherish the memory of Kenneth is his wife, Brenda Sullivan of Anadarko, his children, David Sullivan of Anadarko, Ben Sullivan of Anadarko, Shanney Smith and husband Laughter of Anadarko, Kinni Shenold and husband Chad of Newcastle, Joshua Sullivan of Lawton, and Jered Sullivan of Anadarko, granddaughters, Kati and Hannah Sullivan of Yukon, Alysha, Allie, and Abby Smith of Anadarko, and grandsons, Koen and Lleyton Shenold of Newcastle, brothers, Larry Sullivan of Wewoka, Gary and wife Brenda Sullivan of Mustang, and Dan Sullivan of Anadarko, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, George and Grace Sullivan, his in-laws David and Louise Paddlety, daughter-in-law, Del Sullivan, brother, George Sullivan, sisters: Helen Lewis, Bonnie Smith, and Charlene Walkingstick.
A funeral service to honor the life of Kenneth is set to begin at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, October 14, 2024, at the Red Stone Baptist Church in Anadarko, with Rev. Ben Sullivan officiating and Rev. David Sullivan and Rev. Laughter Smith assisting.
