Kenneth Wayne "Kenny" Major, a longtime resident of Franklinton, LA passed away on July 7, 2022, at the age of 65.
Kenny was born on August 3, 1956 in Richmond, Virginia to his mother, Mary Elizabeth Marchetti Major Scruggs, and father, Elmore Lee Major. Kenny later enlisted in the Navy where he was an Infantry Gun Crew member and received the National Defense Service medal.
After serving, Kenny bought a Harley. He lived a gypsy lifestyle and was a free spirit. A dear, close friend and brother, Roy "Old-timer" Hennick, brought him to Louisiana. After years of living on the edge, Kenny settled down and joined Victory Baptist Church. He turned his life over to Christ and became a family man. He married Debby Major (who he always called darling) on November 17, 2001, and they built a beautiful home together. Kenny loved taking long trips on the motorcycle with Debby. He also worked as a truck driver for almost 20 years and traveled extensively throughout the US, visiting all 48 connected states.
Kenny, at times, was a man of few words. He was very kind, loving, honest, funny, and compassionate. He would do anything for a friend and he always saw the good in life. Kenny loved music and would always find the time to sit around and listen to old records. He also enjoyed teaching Vacation Bible School and spending time with friends and loved ones.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Debby Major, children, Joye Buttler and Wesley Williams, granddaughters, Brittany Braxton and Everly Miner, and siblings, Linda Sexton, David Major and Edward Scruggs.
A memorial will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 3pm, located at 40391 Mike Fisher Road, Franklinton, LA. The service will be led by Brother Larry Archote
