Kenneth Darrel Whitescarver went to be with the Lord Monday, July 11, 2022 surrounded by his family. He was born February 27, 1935 near Russellville, Kentucky (not in a hospital) to the late John and Myrtie Whitescarver. Ken was the youngest of ten children, one of which died in infancy. When Ken was about 7 years of age, the family moved to Toledo, Ohio where he grew up.
His real life began at the age of 20 when he became a Christian. In 1958, Joann said "yes" to Ken's hopeful question and their marriage lasted 64 years with a growing love. With the birth of two sweet and beautiful daughters, Joy and Beth, their immediate family was complete and happy.
After two years spent serving in the Army Medical Corp. (1958-1960), Ken went to Bible College in Allentown, PA (1960-1964). At the time he started at Eastern Pilgrim College, Joann was expecting their first child, Joy, who was born in 1961. Beth was born in 1965 during their pastorate in Greenville, Ohio. After graduating from Bible College, Ken became a pastor and over a period of 21 years pastored 6 different church in Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia. The last five pastorates were in the Church of the Nazarene.
Joy got married and gave us our only grandson, Chad. ("I finally got a boy in the family.") Later, Chad and Kristen gave us two great-grandson's, Lucas and Drew.
At the age of 50, Ken felt he was no longer needed as a pastor and had a secular career until age 69 as a maintenance technician in Columbus, Ohio. He retired in 2004, and he and Joann moved to the Carolinas where their daughters live.
Ken lived to the age of 87 and is survived by his loving wife, Joann C. Whitescarver; daughter, Joy Lynn Lash and her husband, Kevin Lash; daughter, Beth Ann Scisciani; grandson, Chad McCallister and his wife, Kristen, and their two sons, Lucas and Drew, all of Alderson, WV; his brother, John Whitescarver and his wife, Mary, of Perrysburg, Ohio; his sister, Marjorie Angerer of Monroe, MI; his sister-in-law Linda Hicks and her husband Tom of Delta, OH; and a host of nephews and nieces.
A Celebration of Ken's life will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 3:00PM at Church of the Nazarene - Pineville, 8614 Pineville-Matthews Rd., Charlotte, NC 28226. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pat's Closet at Church of the Nazarene - Pineville.

Aunt Joann, Joy and Beth, I am so very sorry for your loss of Uncle Ken. I have many fond memories of him, some of which that include when I was pre-teen, he taught me sign language, unfortunately, since I never had the opportunity to use it, I didn't retain it. But at the time, I was grateful to him for the time he spent to teach me. He also taught me some chords on the guitar. He was a kind and thoughtful man whom I admired so much. My mom was so proud of him and his accomplishments. I am sure they are rejoicing in heaven and have much to catch up on. Sending love, hugs and my deepest sympathy. Keeping your family in my prayers. Love, Charlotte
