Kenneth L. Witmer

Kenneth L. Witmer, age 83, of East York, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024 at his home. He was the loving husband of Barbara L. (Hinkle) Witmer; together they shared 61 years of marriage.
Kenneth was born in Dallastown, PA on July 27, 1940 and was the son of the late Charles and Edith (Heindel) Witmer. He graduated from York Catholic High School Class of 1958 and earned an Associate Degree from York College of Pennsylvania. Kenneth proudly served as a Police Officer with the Springettsbury Township Police Department from 1970 until 1999 and later at the York County Sherriff's Office from 1999 until 2003 when he retired. He also served as former Fire Chief and past President of Springettsbury Township Fire Company and was a life member of the Hawks Club and Viking Gun Club. Kenneth was also a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in East York.
In addition to his loving wife Barbara, Kenneth is survived by his children Connie Reitz, Todd Witmer and wife Clare, Stacey Frankel and husband Stephen, and Michele Davis and husband Brian; his grandchildren Kaitlyn Reitz-Beemer and husband Evan, Shane Witmer and wife Cailey, Abby Witmer and fiancé Tyler, Stone Frankel, and Zoe Davis; and his great-grandchildren Fitz Beemer and Emery Witmer. He is also survived by his brother Ronald Witmer and wife Joan; his nephews Greg Witmer and Brian Witmer; and his nieces Joanne Valenti, Maryann Witmer, and Chris Hammond. Kenneth was preceded in death by his son-in-law Philip Reitz.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 11:30AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Rd., York, PA 17402 with Rev. Peter Rettig as celebrant. Interment will be private. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 10:30AM – 11:30AM prior to the Mass in the narthex of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Funeral services are under the direction of Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., of East York.
