Kenneth Eugene Williams,84, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, at Avantara in Pierre, South Dakota. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, October 17th at Isburg Funeral Chapel in Pierre.
Kenny was born on August 20, 1941 to Walter and Minnie (Horning) Williams and grew up along side his brothers George and Martin.
Kenny grew up in Fort Pierre, after his family moved there during the building of the Oahe Dam. He attended local schools and completed his education through the 11th grade at Fort Pierre High School.
In November 1963, Kenny proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Army, where he earned the rank of E3 Private First Class. Working in the dry-cleaning department, Kenny's diligence and sharp eye earned him a sharpshooter award, a recognition of his exceptional skill and precision. After his honorable discharge in December 1965, he returned home.
Kenny's dedication and work ethic was valued among his coworkers throughout his years at Avera St. Mary's in kitchen services, work in ice spray services and his remarkable 34-year tenure delivering the Capital Journal.
A man of simple pleasures, Kenny found joy in the quiet moments of life. He was an avid reader, enjoyed watching westerns, fishing and taking in the 4th of July parades each year. Kenny also expressed his creativity through crocheting.
Kenny's legacy is carried on by his loving nieces and nephews: Donald (Holly) Williams and their children of Mayville, ND; Kimberly (Rick) Miles and their children of Pierre; Laure (Kevin) Louder and their children of Draper; Karen Williams and her son of Fort Pierre; Glenn Williams and his daughter of Fort Pierre; and Mae Davis and her children of Blunt.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and numerous aunts and uncles.
