Kenny Dean Williamson

Kenny Dean Williamson, 78, of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky, joined his heavenly father on July 18, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 8, 1946, to the late Martin and Elva Mae (Black) Williamson, Kenny lived a life defined by hard work, dedication, and a passion for his family, faith, and community.
Kenny was a proud and loving husband to Rita (Ryle) Williamson for 59 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, much laughter, and unwavering support for one another. He is also survived by his son, Brian Williamson; daughter, Michelle Lustenberg; grandchildren, Nathan Williamson, Michayla (Lustenberg) Peters, Maya and Mikinley Grace Lustenberg; and five great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Archer, Ronyn, Charlamayne, and Trajan.
Preceded in death by his parents, sister Darlene Stephens, brother Jerry Williamson, and granddaughter Madison Marta Lustenberg, Kenny's legacy is carried on by his devoted family and the countless friends whose lives he touched.
Kenny dedicated 26 years to his role as a control operator at Duke Energy East Bend Station, where he was known for his reliability, strong work ethic, and expertise. He loved tinkering in his barn, finding inventive fixes for any issue and creating treasures from discarded materials. His ingenuity and craftsmanship were proudly taught to the generations that have followed.
An avid historian and genealogist, Kenny had a deep appreciation for the past. He was a reader, a thinker, and a formidable opponent during afternoon games of Rummikub. Kenny also enjoyed his garden and the great outdoors. It was once written when referring to Kenny and nature, "Pappy knows everything!"
Kenny was deeply involved in his community, especially at East Bend Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, beginning almost every prayer with "The Lord's Prayer" and wanting to pass those words on to others. He also served as secretary for the Petersburg Masonic Lodge (Elvin E. Helms Lodge), a role he took with great pride. A proud member of the NRA, Kenny always made his opinions known on matters of politics, religion, and personal beliefs. He was known for his willingness to help anyone in need, always there with a hand or a word of wisdom.
Despite the challenges cancer presented, Kenny never let it slow him down. His resilience, tenacity, and positive attitude were a testament to his character. He approached life with a strong work ethic and a determination to live fully, no matter the circumstances.
A visitation will be held at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Hwy, Florence KY 41042 on Friday, July 25, 2025 from 11am-1pm. Funeral services will begin at 1pm, with burial to follow at East Bend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to East Bend Baptist Church or East Bend Baptist Cemetery.
