Kerry Jacobs, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, in
Columbiaville, Michigan. Born on April 24, 1956, in
Detroit, Michigan, Kerry lived a full and vibrant life, marked by his loving nature, kind heart, and humorous spirit.
Kerry proudly served his country as a helicopter mechanic in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. His dedication to service was a testament to his character and his love for his nation. After his time in the military, Kerry married the love of his life, Sally Bissett, on November 28, 1975, in Sandusky, Michigan. Together, they built a life filled with joy, laughter, and an unbreakable bond.
A talented carpenter, Kerry was self-employed and took great pride in his craft. He retired in 2022 after many years of dedicated work, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful creations and the warmth of homes he helped to build and improve.
Kerry's zest for life was evident in his many interests. He and his sons shared a passion for snowmobiling, often chasing the snow across northern Michigan for the thrill of the ride and the beauty of the landscape. At Barnes Lake, Kerry was a familiar and beloved figure, enjoying time with his family and friends, and making memories that would last a lifetime.
Always one to keep busy, Kerry could frequently be found tinkering in his garage, a place where he found solace and joy in the simple act of fixing and creating. His role as a grandfather was one he took on with enthusiasm and love, cherishing every moment spent with his three grandchildren, Austin, Alden, and Ellery. His presence at family gatherings was a highlight, as he brought laughter and joy to every occasion.
Kerry's siblings, Dale (Jeannie) Jacobs, Donna (Chuck) Costello, Kathy (Gregg) McNaughton, and Alanna (James) Phillips, along with his nephews Eric Smiley, Craig Jacobson and Dalton Phillips will fondly remember his humor and the warmth he brought into their lives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Ethel (McVittie) Jacobs, who instilled in him the values of love and family that he carried throughout his life.
An animal lover at heart, Kerry's two beloved cats will deeply miss his presence at home. His kind and loving nature extended to all creatures, great and small, and his absence will be felt by all who knew him.
Kerry Jacobs was a man who never met a stranger, whose laughter could light up a room, and whose kindness touched the hearts of many. He will be remembered as a loving husband to his wife Sally, a devoted father to Shannon, Keven (Amanda), and Keegan (Katie), and a doting grandfather. His legacy of love, kindness, and humor will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life in honor of Kerry will be announced at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville. Share memories, condolences, and pictures with the family at www.jansenfuneralhome.com.
