Kerry Martel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center - Kimball Township on Aug. 26, 2023.
Kerry Robert Martel Sr., age 74, of Yale, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2023, at McLaren Macomb Hospital in Mt. Clemens.
He was born on August 30, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of the late Edmund and Helen (Maxim) Martel.
Kerry was known for his hard work, generosity, and love for his family and friends. He was a dependable friend and neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand. He had a particular knack for working on cars, a skill he generously shared with others. His love for the outdoors was evident in his enjoyment of mowing grass, bird watching, and hosting bonfires. He was also a great lover of animals and took great joy in their company. His love for food was well-known, with grilling being one of his favorite pastimes. He was a wise and funny man, whose presence always brought joy and laughter to those around him.
Kerry was a dedicated family man. He married the love of his life, Cynthia Jo Campbell, on February 23, 1968, in Detroit. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. He was a devoted father to his children, Michelle Rosenthal of Clarkston, Kerry (Nicole) Martel Jr. of Kimball Township, and Jeff (Cindy) Martel of Chesterfield Township. He was a doting grandfather to his ten grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. He is also survived by his siblings, Sharon Martel and Marie (Bobby) Campbell, and many nieces and nephews.
Kerry was a hard worker who always provided for his family. His dedication and commitment were a testament to his strong character and love for his family. He was a man who believed in the value of hard work and the importance of being there for others. He was a natural leader, often taking on the role of supervisor, guiding and supporting others with his wisdom and experience.
Kerry's life was a testament to the words of Albert Einstein, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile." He lived his life in service to others, always ready to help, to share, and to give. His generosity and kindness were his trademarks, and he will be remembered for his warm heart, his wise counsel, and his infectious laughter.
A gathering and viewing will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial Life Celebration Center, 4521 Ravenswood Road, Kimball, MI 48074. Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate. A reception will follow in The Lindke Hall at Grace Memorial.
