Kevin Bartfield Obituary
The "infamous" Kevin Bartfield lost his battle with Metastatic Melanoma on September 4, 2022. Family surrounded him while his soulmate and wife, Cat Bartfield, and his sister Laureen Bartfield were at his side, holding his hand as he left this earth and entered heaven to entertain God.
Kevin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and friend. Over the years, he has been called and held many titles like Captain, Lt, Sarg, Sugarman, Butthead, and the one he called himself the most, Uncle Bart. As "Uncle Bart," he mentored and loved on so many people with his "words of wisdom" and guidance. Kevin was a natural leader with a heart of gold. Kevin loved God, his family, and those lucky enough to be called a friend with all his heart. Nothing made him happier than going to the Greensboro Science Museum with his granddaughter, playing pranks, telling jokes, helping others, and telling stories. He loved fiercely and deeply. He touched so many lives with his love of life and people. If you were lucky enough to have known him, you came away a better person.
Kevin is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cat Bartfield, son Christopher Bartfield, daughter-in-law Aileen Colon, granddaughter Juniper Bartfield, big sister Laureen Bartfield, her husband Scott Smith, mother Helen Bartfield, father Mike Bartfield, stepmother Deborah Bartfield, Uncle Lew Bartfield, and Aunt Evie Bartfield, nieces Julia, Kerstin, Daphne, Matilda, Faith, Evie, Sabrina, nephews Clifford, Andrew, Cameron, great nephew Raury, and cousins Steven and Danny Bartfield.
The family asks if you want to honor his death, don't purchase flowers. Instead, Kevin wished for people to donate to his sister's non-profit spay and neuter service SNAP-NC at the following link: https://www.snap-nc.org/Give.html or to the K9s for Veterans at the following link https://k9sforwarriors.org/?_ga=2.204871504.1972296164.1662476411-1722741123.1662476411.
There will be no funeral service. Kevin asked his wife to promise not to have a funeral. It was his wish to be celebrated, not mourned. A Celebration of Life BBQ will be held at his home on September 17, 2022, at 2 pm. All are invited to come and share stories and eat his favorite foods. It was also his wish that Jets attire be worn in his honor. If you don't have any, there will be plenty of shirts and caps you can borrow. Kevin told his wife to tell everyone this will be the only time you can roast him and get the last word in without him getting you back. Come with your stories and any pictures you might have to celebrate the life of this wonderful obnoxious loving man.
