Kevin Bateman Obituary
Born November 25, 1951 in Salem, Indiana, he was the son of the late Garnerd "John" Lee Bateman and Ruth Margarett (Standiford) Bateman.
He had been a life resident of Washington County He was a graduate of Eastern High School, class of 1970. After High School he then went on to the U.S. Army in 1971 as a paratrooper. In 1974 he joined the Indiana National Guard, retiring in 2011.
On Feb. 23 2003 he married Deborah Lynn (Tharp) Bateman.
He was a member of the Salem American Legion Cecil Grimes Post #41, Salem V.F.W. Post #6636, the D.A.V. Salem Chapter and he scored deer for Hoosier Record Book and Buck Masters.
Survivors include: Wife: Deborah Lynn (Tharp) Bateman; 3 Sons: Kevin Lee Bateman Jr. of Colorado, Charles Chuck Bateman and Chad Michael Bateman, both of of Salem; 2 Daughters: Christy Bateman and Valorie Dawn Bateman, both of Campbellsburg; 4 Stepsons: Nicholas Tharp and Logan Tincher, both of Salem, Jesse Tincher of Louisville, Kentucky and Joshua Lykins of Warner Robbins, Georgia; 2 Stepdaughters: Jami Mudd of Caneyville, Kentucky and Melanie Tincher of Salem. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
Funeral Service: 1:00 pm Wednesday 1/21/2026 at Dawalt Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Main officiating.
Visitation: 4 to 8 pm Tuesday and 10 am to 1 pm Wednesday.
