Wylene Ivie Bateman, 83, of Iona, Idaho, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital, due to complications from a devastating stroke.
Wylene was born on February 12, 1943, to Jack Dana Ivie and Leah Crook Ivie, in Afton, Wyoming. She grew up in Etna, Wyoming. She attended school in Etna and Afton.
Wylene loved to garden and being outside working in her yard. She loved serving others. She enjoyed working in the elementary schools in Iona and Ammon as a teacher's aide. She was passionate about her family and loved being involved in all their lives. She could see the potential in each family member and believed in every one of them. For many years she has given daily care to her mother, who is now 101 years old. Wylene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years she was a dedicated minister to those she was assigned to visit.
Wylene is survived by her mother, Leah Crook Ivie Bitton of Iona; daughter, Debbie (Jeff) Wheeler of Idaho Falls; son, Curtis (Rone) Bateman of Iona; daughter-in-law, Lisa (Jay) Bateman of Ucon; sister, Roseann (Brent) Stout of Rigby; brother, Tony Ivie of Etna, Wyoming; brother, Eddy (Donna) Ivie of Etna, Wyoming; 11 Grandchildren and 30 Great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father; Jack Dana Ivie, husband; Dennis Mack Bateman, son; Jed Dennis Bateman; son; Jay ElRay Bateman, daughter-in-law; Lisa Doney Bateman, grandson; Tyrel Curtis Bateman.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2026, at the Iona 5th Ward Building, 7555 North 55th East, under the direction of Bishop Kodi Holdaway. The family will visit with family and friends Sunday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home Eastside, 963 South Ammon Road, and Monday 10-10:45 a.m. prior at the church. Services will be broadcast live at www.woodfuneralhome.com. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
