Kevin Michael Boardman of So. Burlington, VT, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at the McClure Miller Respite House after a short illness. Kevin was born on May 29, 1959 to Robert & Nancy (Chandler) Boardman.
Kevin grew up in Burlington and attended Rice Memorial High School and graduated from So. Burlington High School in 1978. He attended Becker Junior College in Worcester, MA.
Kevin loved the outdoors, and his hobbies included fishing and snowmobiling with his friends. Kevin was known for his original sense of humor which can best be described as "unfiltered." He was a lover of animals and had a menagerie of them growing up, including dogs, cats, gerbils, hamsters, bunnies, ducks, and an African parrot, all of whom had very original names.
He was a kind and compassionate soul who talked to anyone and everyone. He had nicknames for most of his friends. He loved his family, and his family loved him in return. He was adored by his great-nephews and great-niece, and he always made them laugh with the telling of his stories.
There is great comfort knowing he is now reunited with his mother, father, and brother.
Kevin is survived by his sister Carla Smalling and her husband Kent; his sister Jody Nash and her husband Tim; his nephew Tyler Boardman; his nieces Chandler Sullivan, Jordan Gilman, Kate Boardman, Hannah Nash, Sophie Nash, and Lucy Nash; and his great-nephews and great-niece Tucker Sullivan, Piper Sullivan, Henry Gilman, Grady Sullivan, and Isaac Gilman.
He was predeceased by his father Robert E. Boardman Sr., his mother Nancy C. Boardman, and his brother Robert E. Boardman Jr.
He leaves behind numerous family and friends who cared about him deeply.
Kevin did not have an easy journey in this world. He worked through those challenges and was able to experience life to the fullest over the last fourteen years. May we all have an attitude of humility and compassion for those struggling with mental illness and addiction.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to those who cared for him in his final days, notably the amazing team at the McClure Miller Respite House. We are eternally grateful for your kindness and compassion.
Donations in Kevin's name can be made to the McClure Miller Respite House, 3113 Roosevelt Hwy., Colchester, VT 05446. A private celebration of Kevin's life will be held at a later date.

I saw Kevin a few weeks before his passing. We always had a good time hanging out a the park. Funny man! He will be missed. Fly high buddy! Eric Stebbins.

Karla & Jodi it is with a deep sadness in my heart to hear that your brother Kevin has passed. Kevin and I had many great adventures in the neighborhood where we grew up. From climbing the quarry walls to gathering golf balls from the ponds at the country club. I still think of him as a kind and gentle soul and will always remember as a friend.
May he find peace and happiness in his new adventures.
