Kevin M. Loch Obituary
This world was not big enough to contain the brilliance of Kevin Michael Loch of Reston Virginia. Kevin, a visionary technical genius, passed away on June 19, 2024, at the age of 52.
Having been recently promoted to Premier Network Architect at QTS Data Centers, Kevin was known for his expertise in managing and optimizing the largest computer networks in the world. Kevin revolutionized the way organizations handle complex digital infrastructures. His brilliance, dedication, and innovative spirit inspired countless peers and future generations. Kevin's legacy will live on through the networks he built and the countless lives he touched.
In Kevin's own words on kevinloch.com: "I am also an amateur physicist, programmer, photographer, independent film producer (at WTF Productions) and AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego)." Kevin was also passionate about any and all things space related: the sky, the stars, and beyond; trying to find the meaning in how things work, why they work, and what would make them work better. His latest passion after moving back to Reston was soaking in the skyline from the rooftop of his apartment building and bicycling the paths of Reston and beyond.
Kevin was predeceased by his father Frank Loch. Kevin is survived by his mother Nora Loch, and his siblings; Brian Loch (with his wife Caren Loch), and Lorrie Loch. Nieces and nephews: Daniel Loch (with his wife Lindsey and daughter Lily Loch), Heather Loch, Amanda Loch, Victoria Loch, Jonathan Mercier and Rachel Mercier.
Kevin very much enjoyed gatherings with family and friends to reminisce and share stories. Every year he looked forward to vacationing at the beach with family and friends. Known for his generosity and kindness, Kevin found great joy in giving experiences to people and sharing it with them.
To honor Kevin's "You be you" attitude, a "Come As You Are" Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Fairfax Church of Christ. 3901 Rugby Road, Fairfax, VA 22033. A reception will follow at the church where you will be able to assemble your own Lego tribute to Kevin to take home. Lego bricks will be provided.
In lieu of traditional flowers, you may bring or send Lego flowers. Those assembled before the service will be part of the Memorial display. Assembly space will be provided for any unassembled flowers. Traditional and Lego flowers can be sent to the church 7/2 between 9-4.
Donations may be made in Kevin's memory to the QTS Employee Crisis Fund https://secure.ncfgiving.com/GXDonateNow?id=a0U6S00000c8RHHUA2
or the Benevolence Fund at Calvary Baptist Bristol Calvary Baptist Church | Bristol, PA (calvarybristol.org). Kevin's nephew, Dan Loch, has been the Worship Director at Calvary for several years. Kevin attended Dan's Ordination last month and was impressed by Calvary's authenticity and dedication to the community. Kevin recommended a QR for donations; the church now has a QR Code. That's how Kevin worked; he made an impact wherever he went. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, the technical world and beyond.
