Kevin Wayne Nelson

Kevin Wayne Nelson, 64, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away at his home on February 3, 2026. He was formerly of Port Orchard, Washington, and was a graduate of Albany High School in Albany, Georgia. Kevin was a man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures and the people he admired most. He loved his children deeply and was proud of each of them. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and found great joy in building and collecting model trains. A passionate sports fan, Kevin especially loved fantasy football and looked forward each year to the excitement of the Super Bowl. He was also a sports car enthusiast and appreciated the craftsmanship and excitement of high-performance vehicles. A longtime animal lover, Kevin cared greatly for his three dogs-Buddy, Maya, and Jessie-who brought him daily comfort and companionship. Whether outdoors, cheering on his favorite team, behind the wheel, or working on a detailed train layout, he appreciated the moments that brought both energy and quiet satisfaction. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherum Ray Nelson and Charlotte Jean Levine; his wife, Sandra Lowe Nelson; and his grandson, James Dunklee. Kevin is survived by his stepchildren, Jessica Kauzlaric and her children, Natalie Kauzlaric, Lilley Kauzlaric, and Andrew Varela; Amber Lowe; Krista Cruz; and April Cruz; his brother, Todd Nelson and his wife, Patti, and their sons, Allen Nelson, Mathew Nelson, and James Wallace; and his sister, Shawn Hall and her husband, Joe, and their daughters, Rhonda Hall and Ashley Anderson. Kevin will be remembered for his independent spirit, his love of family and dogs, and the memories he created with those closest to him.
