Kevin James Sayers

Kevin James Sayers, age 70, of Michigan, passed away on April 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 25, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan, to Jess and Bettie (Classen) Sayers, Kevin lived a life rooted in faith, family, and joy.
Kevin was the beloved husband of Joan (Joni) Sayers, his devoted partner since October of 1977. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three sons: Timothy (Lindsey), Philip (Elizabeth), and Jared. He was a proud and loving grandpa to Grace, Anna, Lily, Miles, and Carter.
Kevin is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with 12 great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom he held close to his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters lost to miscarriage, his in-laws Ron and Doris Dettloff, two nieces, and one nephew.
The biggest joy Kevin had was to serve his Lord and Savior; playing piano, singing, leading in Music Ministry. Easter was his favorite season to prepare for; now he is in Heaven for Easter!
Kevin also had a heart for service and a spirit of celebration, most memorably expressed in his beloved role as Santa Claus. A graduate of the Charles W. Howard Santa Claus School in Midland, Michigan, Kevin took great pride in bringing joy to others during the holiday season. Each summer, he would begin growing out his beard in preparation for Christmas-embodying the spirit of the season with warmth, kindness, and authenticity.
