Kevin Thiede, age 57, of La Porte, IN, lost his battle with anaplastic thyroid cancer on Jan 2, 2026.
Kevin will be remembered as a passionate RC enthusiast, and he enjoyed not only his planes, but boats, cars, trucks, and helicopters as well. He was a member of American Modelers Association and Northern Indiana Modelers Association, and recently joined Classified RC truck and car racing. He also loved the thrill of riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and Polaris RZR.
Over the years with his sons, he enjoyed paint balling, shooting at the gun range, outings to Great America to ride the roller coasters, and attending rock concerts in Chicago. No adventure was too small for Kevin. He cherished time spent on Bass Lake in Pentwater, MI, where he spent summers with his family and friends on the water skiing, kneeboarding, boating and on Drummond Island, MI with Tracy and their friends, as well as his travels all over the world.
Kevin's generosity to others and his unwavering determination to continue on while battling this disease touched the lives of many. He knew that God had a plan for him.
Kevin worked for New York Blower for nearly 31 years, and traveled the world as their Senior Service Technician for over 20 of those years. His dedication and willingness to go above and beyond the scope of the job, rewarded him an Outstanding Service Award. He was a member of the NYB 25 Year Club.
