Kikuko Jardine "Kiko" of Plattsburgh New York, sadly passed away with her family by her side on May 24, 2024. She was 93 years old and especially enjoyed her birthday weekend with her family on April 7th witnessing the eclipse the following day. Shortly thereafter her health rapidly deteriorated due to pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her daughter Mary and son John, son in law Charles Culley and daughter in law Lisa Jardine. She adored her surviving grandchildren Charles Sean Culley, Kendra Culley, Ashley Proulx, Joshua Proulx, Jonathon Jardine and granddaughter Destiny Booth.
Mrs. Jardine always had fond memories working at the Peru Central School lunchroom for thirty seven years. She especially loved serving the children and the warm comradery with staff. She also was a member of the Women's club at the Nazarene Church and attended Bible Studies. She was born in Chiba Japan to parents Kyugo and Teru Endo. She met her husband Arthur Jardine (predeceased), while he was stationed in Japan. She grew up in a loving family in Chiba including her brother Yasuhiko Endo (predeceased) and two surviving sisters, Harumi Kadota and Yoko Kobayashi who flew to Vermont to be by her sister's side at the end of her life. She also has wonderful nieces and nephews in Japan and Keene and West Swanzey New Hampshire and two surviving sister in-laws Gladys Blair (m. Francis Blair) and Lena Whipple (m. David Whipple) whom she spoke to weekly. During her middle adulthood years until she turned 90 years old, she enjoyed visiting Manhattan and wondered if she would ever be tired of New York City. Last year she stated how she appreciated the quiet of Plattsburgh and Shelburne Vermont with its beautiful greenery and was content to only have memories of her experiences in New York City.
A memorial to honor Kikuko Jardine's life will be held at 12:00 PM on June 8th at the Nazarene Church in Plattsburgh with calling hours at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester Vermont or the Nazarene Church in Plattsburgh New York.
