Kim Margo (Christian) Barrett, daughter of Ronald Christian and Roxana Holleran, was born on January 23, 1955, in Wellsboro, PA. She spent her childhood in New York and Pennsylvania and later her family relocated to
Cherokee, IA. She attended Washington High School where she graduated in 1973.
Kim married Kenneth Barrett Sr. on June 30, 1973, in Windsor, NY. To this union, three children were born, Kari, Kris, and Kenneth Jr. Kim worked at the Hy-Vee Warehouse for 14 years. She then opened and co-owned Quilt-N-Kaboodle quilt shop, with Ginny Bunt, in Cherokee, for 15 years until her retirement. After her retirement she continued to quilt quilts for others, from her home, up until her passing.
Kim enjoyed quilting and thoroughly enjoyed all of her customers at the quilt shop. Many became lifelong friends. Kim loved her dog, Casey, often joking that he was the favorite child. Most of all, she enjoyed the time spent with her family and friends. She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Kim was the inspiration for Kims Meals, a Catholic Daughters Ministry that delivers meals to the sick and homebound.
On Saturday, November 9, 2024, Kim passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, following a 15-month battle with lung cancer.
