June 29, 1957 – December 19,2025
WEST RUTLAND- Kim Alanna Gates,69, of West Rutland a loving, supportive, and kind woman, died Friday December 19, 2025 at the Rutland Regional medical Center surrounded by love.
Born on June 29, 1957, in Rutland, Vermont, Kim was raised in Fair Haven, VT, where she graduated from Fair Haven Union High School in 1975.
On March 12, 1977, Kim married the love of her life, Kevin Gates. The two shared a devoted marriage filled with commitment and care. They spent their life living in Connecticut and Vermont.
Kim was a devoted mother to her son, Justin Gates, who was the pride and joy of her life. She is also survived by her cherished dog, Sophie, who brought her constant companionship and comfort.
Kim is survived by her siblings: Linda (Allen) Carleton of Trinity, TX; Kathy (Bill) Bushee of Bomoseen, VT; Alan (Norma) Bushee of Rutland, VT; Robin (Guy) Gates of Chippenhook, VT; and Nancy (Bill) Wyman of Castleton, VT, along with many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
In her later years, Kim found companionship and comfort with her partner, Randy Bushey, who was supportively by her side at the time of her passing.
His presence brought her warmth and reassurance during this chapter of her life.
Kim found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved sitting alongside the ocean, working on jigsaw puzzles, gathering with family, and playing cards-moments that reflected her calm spirit and deep appreciation for togetherness. Her kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
Kim was predeceased by her parents, Bernard E. Bushee and Betty J. Bride, and by her beloved husband, Kevin Gates, who passed away on May 12, 2018.
Her three sister in-laws, Debbie, Dale and Stacey.
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at a later date in the Fairview Cemetery in Benson.
