It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kim Annette Schulz on March 2nd, 2025, at the age of 62. Kim was born in Marion, OH to Harold "Butch" Schulz and Rita (Schulz) Rodgers.
Kim was baptized in a Catholic church and attended St. Mary Grade School in Marion. That initial upbringing would lay the foundation for her profound spirituality. As a child Kim loved being outside, playing softball, riding her bike and hanging out with her friends. In high school she studied graphic arts. Shortly after graduation she enlisted in the Army where she was stationed at Fort Dix in New Jersey. She went on to study to be a paralegal before shifting gears and getting into real estate.
Kim met Celia, the love of her life, September of 1998 in Marion OH. They lived in Columbus for a few years where she was a Counselman for their North Linden Community before moving to Pensacola in October of 2002. Kim found happiness in the simpler things in life along with painting, writing and political activism. Having one of her works of art, a beautiful sun painting showcased nationwide on CBS Sunday Morning, was one of her greatest accomplishments. She found serenity at the beach, enjoying the sound of the waves crashing on the sand. She also loved photography, capturing photos of creatures from sea to sky.
She is preceded in death by her father, Harold "Butch" Schulz; and brother, David Plumley.
Kim is survived by her wife of 26 years, Celia White; stepchildren, Sara, Lauren, Jacob and Dylan; and 6 grandchildren. Along with her mother, Rita (Len) Rodgers; sister, Kelly (Greg) Wright; brother, Steve Schulz; and multiple extended family members. Kim had a host of friends she considered family as well, in Florida, Ohio and across the country.
Her departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, it is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply. Kim, despite her tough persona, had a very kind and loving spirit. Being very in touch with her spirituality, she believed that those we love are never truly gone, but their spirit lives on around us.
Her legacy, exemplified by her passion for making the world a better place, will continue to inspire and guide us. We will cherish the memories we have, all the photos she took and her infectious laugh. As we grapple with the loss of her bold physical presence, we find solace in knowing her spirit lives on through her paintings and the love she instilled in us.
A celebration of life will take place on Pensacola Beach and in Ohio with dates to follow in the coming weeks.
