Kim Marie Skirnick, nee Maciorowski, age 68, of Lemont Illinois passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Walter Maciorowski and Bernice Maciorowski, nee Filipiak and was the wife of Ronald Skirnick.
In addition to Ronald, her husband of 33 years, she is survived by her step-daughters, Tammy(Jim) Schrimmenti, Nicole(Jason) Willis, and her step-son Jason Skirnick; siblings, the late Pamela(Robert) Kizlaitis, Mark(Sue) Maciorowski, and Michael(Anya) Maciorowski; grandchildren, Nicolas Schrimmenti, Ryne Willis, Kaley Schrimmenti, and Emma Willis; nieces and nephews, Sarah(Jeremiah) Ryan, Matthew Kizlaitis, Cathi(Sean) Mellen, Greg(Kara) Daffron and Dennis Daffron.
Kim was retired from Cook County after many years of dedicated employment. Prior to her employment at Cook County, Kim worked at Jewel for many years starting at age 16 and advancing to deli manager.
Kim was known as Gammy to her grandchildren. One of Gammy's greatest joys in life was celebrating Halloween with her beloved grandchildren-Emma Lynn, Kay Kay, Nick, and Ryno. She made every Halloween a magical experience, from dressing up in costumes to throwing unforgettable parties filled with spooky games, laughter, and love. She especially enjoyed hosting apple bobbing contests and her famous "guess the body part" game, where they would reach into mystery bags and try to guess what was inside-eyeballs (grapes), brains (spaghetti), and more. Gammy also loved sharing ghost stories, with the tale of Resurrection Mary being her absolute favorite. Her playful spirit, creativity, and deep love for her grandkids shined through every moment. She spoiled them endlessly and filled their childhoods with joy, fun, and memories they will treasure for the rest of their lives.
Kim also loved animals, dogs especially. There seemed to be a dog or dogs always in her life. They were her babies and she spoiled them with love and attention. She knew the name of every dog and cat in the neighborhood, but was hard pressed to remember the neighbor's name.
Per Kim's wishes there will not be any wake or funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Paws Animal Shelter or the
American Cancer Society.
